red & black. Engraved portrait of the author, engraved vignette on title, and
with a large (20-1/4” x 29-1/2”) folding engraved plate of the formal garden
at the “Villa de Marocco", the home of the Venetian Sagredo family. This
spectacular engraving is on thick paper stock. Original drab boards (“carta rustica”
), hinges rubbed, but sound. Modern ownership notation on front free
endpaper. Some occasional text foxing. Scarce. $3,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
First edition of this treatise on gardening, including garden design and
plant and fruit cultivation. There is one part related just to citrus cultivation.
