PUBLICATION  FROM  THE  PERSONAL DIARIES, PRIVATE LETTERS  PAPERS  AND
REVEALING  INTERVIEWS  OF  HARRY TRUMAN. New  York:  Farrar,  Straus &
Young  (1952).  First  Edition. Quarto (8" x 11") bound  in  two-toned
cloth  and  illustrated with numerous facsimiles of Truman's  writing,
drawings,  and photographs in color and black and white. An incredible
copy,  INSCRIBED  by  Truman as President in the  large  blank  margin
beneath  the color frontispiece photograph of Truman at his desk:  "To
Hon.  &  Mrs.  John W. McCormack with/kindest regards for  their  good
friend./White  House,/Harry  Truman/Dec.  17, 1952."  McCormack  was a
Democratic  member  from Massachusetts of the United  States  Congress
from  1928 to 1971, serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives
under  Kennedy and Johnson from 1963 to 1971. Only Tip O'Neill  served
a  longer  term as Speaker (10 years).  In the presidential line of succession, 
the Speaker would serve as President if the Vice President were unable to. 
Binding a bit  cocked; lacking the dustwrapper. Very Good and a superb
