FS: a moderately scarce item

ANONYMOUS [after William Shakespeare]. KING LEAR; Or, The Undutiful
Children. A Tale, In Twelve Chapters. London: Bull, Simmons & Co.,
Publishers and Librarians, 9, Wigmore Street, Cavendish Square. 1870. 1st
printing of this edition. Square 12mo, 61 pp., original dark blue cloth
decorated in black, gold and blind, gold titles on front panel. A retelling
in novel form of the tale of King Lear. The title leaf bears the quote
"Think ye see / The very persons of our noble story / As they were living",
but attributing it in error to "Prologue to Henry III", this would be
Shakespeare's 'The Life of King Henry The Eighth'. Some soiling to first
few leaves of text; previous owner's signature dated 1893 on front
endpaper, hinges cracking, light wear to spine tips and a few small marks
to the cloth. Overall, a very good copy. Not located in OCLC. Not Located
in the British Library. Not in the Folger Shakespeare Library. No library
holdings found worldwide. Rare. $250.00 US
