Illustrated with 61 leaves of chessboard diagrams (all but the first) printed on 
both sides in red, black & olive. Cont. boards, worn, nicely rebacked in 
polished calf, gilt. Engraved bookplate on front pastedown. The title-page of the 
second part has two holes, one of which affects several words. A very scarce
