We offer for Sale:

1. Hutchinson, Thomas. THE HISTORY OF THE COLONY OF MASSACHUSET'S
BAY: FROM THE FIRST SETTLEMENT THEREOF IN 1628, UNTIL ITS
INCORPORATION WITH THE COLONY OF PLIMOTH, PROVINCE OF MAIN, &C. BY
THE CHARTER OF KING WILLIAM AND QUEEN MARY, IN 1691. London: Printed
for M. Richardson, 1765. [6], iv, 566 pp. 8vo. Later black buckram
with gilt titles (hardback). Second edition. Sabin 34076. Howes H853.

Sabin reports many copies printed with the wrong date (1760 instead
of 1765). Hutchinson, the last colonial governor of Massachusetts,
published a further three volumes of this history. Nicely rebound
with new endpapers, title leaf with small chip to corner, signature,
and a few notations concerning the author; leaf a2 with a few repairs
not affecting text and a small corner chip, some scattered foxing,
but overall a very good copy. [27052] $350.00

through 1765. Wear at the extremities, small chip to heel of spine, a
few tears to head of spine, owner's signatures, upper 2 inches of
rear free endpaper excised, small dampstain to corner of rear
endpapers and one blank, some offsetting, last four leaves of first
volume darkened with some light staining, one leaf with a small tear,
one leaf with a corner chip, both marginal; impressions sharp, leaves
