The Book Proposal presented by Amy Tan to her publisher. First page 
after title page is full color illustration by Gretchen Schields on 
photo paper. This is followed by a 3 page story synopsis by Ms. Tan and 
4 pages on the design and illustrations and brief biographies of the 
author and illustrator. Next is dedication page to the nieces of Amy Tan 
and Gretchen Schields followed by "non-consecutive samples of rough 
illustrations (16 full page black & white illustrations by Ms. Schields) 
with subtitles -- not the complete story, but rather an idea of how it 
shall be told and illustrated."
Adopted from The Joy Luck Club, The Moon Lady is the story of how a 
six-year-old girl discovers the nature of wishes. The Moon Lady was the 
first children's book written by Amy Tan and her first collaboration 
with Gretchen Schields. Published by Macmillan in 1992, is was a great 
success for both.
