The third edition after two very rare printings in Rome in 1524, of this 
important play. It is “usually considered the first modern European tragedy to 
follow classical practice” (Oxford Companion to Italian Literature). 
Typographically it is notable for being one of the first books printed in Janiculo’s “
Cancillaresca” italic type derived from the first Arrighi type of 1524. Adams
