We are pleased as a magician with a hat full of rabbits to be auctioning 2
interesting movie books and an interesting magic supply catalog. All
auctions without reserve, because 'Milo the Magnificent' didn't use
reserves when he put Lady "Pegleg" Minerva into the Magic Sword Box...

"HOW TO WRITE A MOVIE. A handbook on movie planning, continuity and
scenario writing, silent and sound, for amateur and non-theatrical movie
makers" By Arthur L. Gale. Published by the Brick Row Bookshop in 1936. A
fascinating relic from the dawn of the Golden Age of Movies a how-to book
for the aspiring screenwriter, detailing the ins and outs of producing a
movie script. These were the days when movies could be either silent or
feature sound, and the final chapter addresses that new technical fad- color!
"THE MOVIE RATING GAME" By Stephen Farber. Published by the Public Affairs
Press in 1972. This "hard-hitting book tears apart the cloak of secrecy
behind which the Code and Rating Administration of the Motion Picture
Association has operated since 1968. Here for the first time the public is
told the truth about the shifting and arbitrary criteria used to determine
ratings, about the rating board's role in editing scripts and completed
films, and about the highly questionable approach of Dr. Aaron Stern, a
psychiatrist who now heads the rating board." The book also provides a
history of the development of the ratings system and movie censorship in
America.
"ABBOTT'S MAGIC NOVELTY COMPANY CATALOG No. 7" Issued in 1943. A vintage
trade catalog from one of Americas great magic-supply companies, packed
with everything from card tricks and finger guillotines to trick rabbits,
live canaries in light bulbs, vanishing cabinets, sword cabinets,
levitation tricks, and a bevy of books and pamphlets.
