including 5 folding plates and 5 plates of engraved music. Cont. calf, rear 
hinge a bit wormed, and erasure of a signature from the bottom blank margin of 
the title page, but overall a very good copy.     $1,000.00 (trade discount

A very scarce French edition of this study revealing the closely held secrets 
-- the rituals, grips, passwords and signs of the French Freemasons. The 
final section of the text (34 pages) contains the lyrics for their ritual songs. 
See Caillet 8506; Dorbon-Aine #6446. A confusing book bibliographically. Our 
edition appears to be the first of two Amsterdam 1745 editions, but probably not 
the first French edition.
