beautifully rebacked with a new sympathetic spine; 488, [1] pages. Illustrated 
with engravings by W. W. Denslow. With sketches of the lives of several 
successful men by Henry M. Hunt and "An Appendix Containing Money! Where It 
Comes From and Where It Goes To. Being a Concise History of Money, Banks and 
Banking" by Seldon R. Hopkins. This copy is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the period's 
greatest showman to the most famous Protestant preacher of his day whose church, 
the Brooklyn Tabernacle, was the most famous church in America: "To Rev. T De 
Witt Talmage/with kind regards/P. T. Barnum/Bridgeport Conn Oct 16th 1890." 
Lovely copy with superb association: a book about attaining success and 
happiness inscribed by one of the 19th century's greatest salesmen to another.
