152-172, “De Geometricis Meusurationibus Rerum,” is particularly well 
illustrated, depicting the use of the astrolabe for measuring. Bound in a 15th 
century vellum music manuscript leaf, covering boards, leather spine label.

On the making and use of the astrolabe. Stoeffler (1452-1531) wrote “The 
earliest German [authored] Book on the subject of the astrolabe [that] is also the 
best.” (Gunther, THE ASTROLABES OF THE WORLD.) It first appeared in 1512 in 
folio format. Our 1553 edition is the first, of many, octavo editions, printed
