GARNER, Alan., THE WEIRDSTONE OF BRISINGAMEN. A TALE OF ALDERLY., London: 
Collins. 1960. Advance proof copy of the first edition. The author's first 
book. Octavo, original mottled blue wrappers. 224 pp. Issued without proper 
endpapers, the map endpapers used in the published edition of the book are 
present but not laid down - they are the verso of the first leaf and the 
recto of the second leaf (and verso of the second last leaf and recto of 
the final leaf). Issued in the original dust wrapper by George Adamson, 
priced at 12s 6d. A few spots to the half-title leaf, some mild spine 
creases; the dust wrapper has mild wear at the edges and is slightly frayed 
at spine head. Overall, a very good copy. A major children's fantasy 
classic. Rare. $650.00

MACHEN, Arthur., THE GREAT GOD PAN AND THE INMOST LIGHT., London: John 
lane. 1894. 1st edition. Octavo, original slate green / gray cloth titled 
and decorated in white with a design by Aubrey Beardsley on front panel, 
titled in gilt and 'keynotes' design in white on spine and rear panel. 
Elaborate decorative title page by Aubrey Beardsley. 168 pp., 4 pp 
catalogue of books in "The Keynotes Series" at rear, followed by a 16 page 
publisher's catalogue "List of Books in Belles Lettres" dated 1894. "The 
Great God Pan" is one of Machen's earliest and most notorious stories. 
Front endpapers neatly replaced with closely matching paper. Slight wear to 
edges of cloth, corners a bit soft, light rubbing. Overall, a clean, very 
good copy. $275.00

POWERS, Tim, THE ANUBIS GATES., London: Chatto & Windus / The Hogarth 
Press. [1985]. 1st hardcover edition. Octavo, original green boards titled 
in gilt on spine panel. Philip K. Dick award winner, and simply put, one of 
the greatest fantasy novels of the last 50 years. Light foxing to page 
edges and verso of dust wrapper, one small spot on front panel of wrapper. 
A very nice copy. $175.00

SMITH, Clark Ashton., OUT OF SPACE AND TIME., Sauk City: Arkham House. 
1942. 1st edition. 1,054 copies printed. Octavo, original black cloth 
titled in gilt on spine panel. The author's first important collection of 
fantasy tales. Cloth faintly dampstained in parts on front & rear panel, 
not showing as discolouration but just as a slight difference in the 
texture of the cloth. A very good copy in the original Hannes Bok dust 
wrapper which shows wear at the edgesand along the spine panel. The dust 
wrapper flaps are separated but present. Overall, a decent copy of a very 
important early Arkham House book, the third book from the press. $375.00
