volumes [Autograph Edition]. Hartford Conn.: The American Publishing
Company, 1899-1900. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. Frontispiece
portraits and several full-page illustrations in each volume. Three-quarter
dark green morocco with marbled paper boards and endpapers. Raised bands
with gilt titles on spines; top edges gilt; others untrimmed. Edges and
spines are faded to brown; overall wear to edges; a few spine ends worn
through the leather. A few hinges are loose; the spine of one volume is
partially detached; interior is clean and tight in all volumes. A Very Good
set. BAL 3456. Signed in ink by Twain, as 'S. L. Clemens (Mark Twain)' in
Volume I; additionally, signed by Brander Matthews at the end of his
'Biographical Criticism' essay in Volume I ; and signed by Charles Dudley
Warner on the limitation page of volume X.  This set is number 274 of 512
sets in the "Autograph Edition", and lacks volumes 23, 24 & 25 which were
issued individually, between 1903 and 1907.  Leather Bound. Images available
