(OCCULT) Fludd, Robert. INTEGRUM MORBORUM MYSTERIUM: Sive Medicinae
Catholicae Tomi Primi Tractatus Secundus, in Sectiones Distributus Duas... Frankfurt:
Typis excusus Wolfgangi Hofmanni, Prostat in Officina Guilielmi Fitzeri. 1631.
Folio. 3 vols in 1. (12),504;(4),414pp. Title-page (mounted on guard at inner
margin with a small repair at bottom corner) with a large copper engraved
vignette and portrait of Fludd on verso. Illustrated with numerous text
engravings, 3 folding plates, and many woodcut tables & diagrams. Early 19th c. sheep,
gilt tooled spine compartments, over marbled boards, rubbed at extremities.
Some text browning and worming in blank bottom & fore- margins. About 20 leaves
with worming in text block, affecting individual letters but not the
readability. $4,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
A continuation of Fludd's "Medicina Catholica" 1629. Much of this work
deals with earlier theories of diseases as caused by an imbalance of humors or
evil spirits excited by the winds. However, it also connects with modern medicine
in Fludd’s (1547-1637) attempt to understand the significance of the pulse,
etc., etc.
