700 pages, color and black & white plates. Very good, ex library.
      Subtitle continues: "
with Anecdotes, Pathetic Incidents, and 
Thrilling Reminiscences Portraying the Lights and Shadows of Hospital Life 
and the Sanitary Service of the War." Mrs. Livermore was married to a 
prominent Chicago newspaperman and was herself a skilled writer. Her 
narrative includes many portrayals of herself and other women actively 
engaged in the war efforts. Includes color plates of battle flags. EICHER 
#637; FREEMON, MICROBES & MINIE BALLS, p 86; NEVINS, CIVIL WAR BOOKS, Vol. 
II, p. 130. Bound in red cloth over boards with spine titled and ornamented 
in gilt, both boards with ornamental borders in blind, facsimile author 
inscription in gilt on upper board. Minimal library marks include a number 
on spine, "Withdrawn" stamp on front free endpaper, and pocket and slip 
removed from rear endpapers. Slight fading to spine, minor extremity rubs. 
Hinges not cracked.    $50.00
