Illustrated with 3 added engraved titles and with 25 folding plates (22 maps and plans 
and 3 views), the maps by the successful Dutch mapmaker and publisher Isaak 
Tirion (1705-1769), the views by J. C. Phillips. Cont. vellum, spines neatly 
hand-lettered. All maps and text clean, the first map in Vol. I is poorly folded, 
otherwise a lovely set.     $3,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
A history of the present state of the Americas (Central America, South 
America and North America including Canada) since 1725. It is based on Thomas Salmon’
s work THE MODERN HISTORY, OR PRESENT STATE OF ALL NATIONS, London: 
1736-1738. In fact, this Dutch translation by M. Van Gogh was edited and rewritten to 
be, in effect, a new work. The English edition had maps by Herman Moll; the 
Dutch edition has new maps by Tirion, Sabin #31212 comments, “The numerous maps 
and plates are well executed.” Howes #H382.
