with its own title page. 788,(6)pp. Index. Cont. vellum, somewhat soiled. On a 
blank leaf at back is a 2-page manuscript Latin poem on the death of 
Melanchthon & dated 1580.     $1,250.00 (trade discount allowed)
Melanchthon’s final revised and expanded Latin version of this world 
chronicle (from a Lutheran perspective), originally written by Johannes Carion in 
German in 1532. Our 1560 edition without publisher or place is quite scarce, only 
Yale and the University of Chicago with copies in America. The British Library 
records a copy and states the imprint to be (Lyon: Jean de Tournes), but this 
work is not listed in Cartier’s DE TOURNES bibliography. Also, not recorded 
in VD 16, which lists Latin editions of this work after 1558 under Melanchthon, 
not Carion.
