Homer. HOMERI ILIAS, Seu Potius Omnia Eius Quae Extant Opera. Studio & Cura.
Ob. Giphanii... Strasburg: Theodosius Rihelius. (1572). 8vo. 893,(73)pp.,
lacking the final blank (the blank is noted by Adams). Index. Large woodcut device
on title. Early calf, both covers elaborately gold tooled with the arms of
Philippe de Ligne, Prince of Arenberg and Governor of Namur. $1,500.00
(trade discount allowed)
This is the ILIAD volume only; Rihel also printed the ODYSSEY in a separate
volume. It is quite common to find only one or the other in library collections
(see Adams #764, #765, #768) or at auction. There are 4 auction records in
the past 30 years, and 3 are for one volume only.
