RILEY, James Whitcomb. AN OLD SWEETHEART OF MINE.  Indianapolis:
Bobbs-Merrill  (1903). First Edition. Quarto (9-1/4" x 11-3/4")  bound
in  publisher's  gilt-decorated  brown  boards.  BAL  16657:  Extended
version,  though  Blanck  makes  no mention  of  this  larger  format,
limited  signed edition. Illustrated with drawings by Howard  Chandler
Christy  tipped  in  by the publisher with protective  tissue  guards.
Copy  #47  of  400  SIGNED  by the poet on  the  limitation  page.  In
addition,  this  copy has tipped to the bottom of the half title  page
eight  lines  of MANUSCRIPT VERSE SIGNED by Riley beginning "Lose  all
troubles--gain  release." This is on a 4-7/8" x 3-3/8" piece of paper.
Pasted  below  that  and  also  on the  opposite  page  are  catalogue
descriptions  of  the book as well as on the verso of the  front  free
endpaper  the  bookplate  of  William  E.  Ambler.  Occasional  foxing
internally  and soiling externally. Some rubbing to edges, spine tips.
