M. de Brunoff, 1922. First French edition, No.242 of 325 copies, signed 
by the publisher on limitation page. Large quarto delicately bound in 
original beige decorated wraps. Spine cracked and chipped at base of 
spine. Translated into French by W. Petroff. Illustrated with wood 
engravings by D. Galanis, engravings by Canova, wood prints by F. Jules 
Collignon originally published in "Les Beautes de l'Opera," 1845, and 
pochoirs on heavy handmade paper of costume designs by Leon Bakst for 
Pavlova in Giselle, Cleopatre, Lac des Cygnes, and La Belle au Bois 
Dormant. With tipped-in photo-gravures and full-page reproductions of 
photos, (many by van Riel), along with paintings, sketches and drawings 
contributed by Pavlov's friends in this beautifully produced tribute to 
her talent. Chapters include discussions of ballet and Pavlova's 
balletic choreography, excerpts from Pavlova's autobiographical 
writings, and the dance of Pavlova as viewed by critics.  $650
