DARROW, Clarence THE STORY OF MY LIFE
Charles Scribner's Sons New York 1932 First Trade Edition. Illustrated
with a frontispiece portrait and numerous photographs. Darrow describes
his personal and professional life including his roles in some of the
most famous trials of the twentieth century: The Scopes Monkey Trial,
Sacco and Vanzetti, Leopold and Loeb, etc. This copy is INSCRIBED and
SIGNED by the author on the half title page: "To Rabbi and Mrs.
Bernstein/With all good wishes from/Clarence Darrow/Dec. 12th 1934."
Inscribed trade editions of this book are not easy to come by. This
Bernstein, who has written his name in pencil on the front endpaper, is
likely the Rabbi Philip Bernstein who served as Jewish adviser to the
U.S. military government in Germany during the Second World War. Small
piece of cello tape above the printed half title and a small skimmed
mark from removal of such on the opposite page. Slight wear to spine
tips. Very Good or better, lacking the dustwrapper. $2000.00
