BASEBALL / A Documentary History in Chronological Presentation from
the personal collection of Norman Kane (a fan for over 75 years)
(with a very few additions) Norman Kane attended his first game in
1932. He began to read about baseball in the pulps of the 1940s. He
bought them, in order to read them. He has been an antiquarian
bookseller for more than 50 years, a member of ABAA. He did not sell

Amherst, Mass: [Express Job Printing Office], 1859.
Broadside, 17 1/8" x 12", printed on both sides. Old folds, splits at
the edges in folds, old light stains, very good, under the
circumstances. First edition. Generally thought to be the first
separately printed account of a baseball game. An account of the
chess match is printed, verso. Copies are held by Amherst, the
Library of Congress, and the New York City Racquet & Tennis Club
Library; one other copy, recently discovered, was auctioned at Swann,
December 4, 2003, sold recently by James Cummins (ABAA). Norman
Kane's would be the fifth copy known to us. $15,000.00
