Illustrated with 42 mounted beautiful chromolithograph plates (1 an illuminated title), 
and 24 wood engravings. One of 250 large paper copies. Deluxe publisher’s 
binding of full red morocco, pictorial covers stamped in gilt, some darkening. 
Corners bumped, front hinge starting but still sound, small scrape on front 
cover. A.e.g. A few water stains in blank margins, not affecting text or plates. 
Old tape repair on verso of dedication leaf. This leaf is trimmed at the 
fore-edge and appears to have been removed at some point. Occasional light foxing.
