First edition. Quarto, bound in 19th Century marbled boards with
cloth spine, gilt tiles. 650 pp, frontispiece engraving, 2 folding
maps of the city of Rouen at rear. A rare work which contains
original accounts of the trial of Joan of Arc transcribed from
Original Manuscripts in the "Bibliotheque du Roi". i.e., the
Bibliotheque Nationale. Included are DelAverdy's "Notice du proces
criminel..." in 4 parts, the "Tableau des noms de tous ceux qui ont
ete Juges ou Assesseurs ou Consulteurs du Saint-Office, ou opinans
dans l'affaire de Jeane d'Arc..." in 10 parts, "Reflexions
historiques & critiques sur la conduite qu'a tenue Charles VII, a
l'egard de Jeanne d'Arc... "Notice General historique & critique de
vingt-huit Manuscrits concernant les proces criminels & l'histoire de
Jeane d'Arc... Proces de condamnation... Proces d'absolution...
Manuscrits concernant l'histoire de Jeane d'Arc ... Minute Francoise
du proces de condamnation"... "Priemiere, Seconde et Troisieme
additions a la notice des vingt-huit Manuscrits (including)

A complicated work combining many parts, but overall an expose of the
trial of Joan of Arc, citing original documents, and asking pertinent
questions concerning missing files, the process of the judgment
against her, etc. Frontispiece engraving of the monument to Joan in
the town of Rouen, some foxing, wormholes to margins, the folding
maps of Rouen at the rear have some worming in the lower left corner,
overall a very good copy. Rare.
