I can offer...

[LINCOLN, Abraham]. Early newspaper appearance of the
Emancipation Proclamation, included in "The Democrat and American" of
Manchester, New Hampshire, Vol. XXI, No. 23. Manchester, September 25,
1862.
Folio newspaper, printed seven columns to the page. 4 pp. Folded
several times, with small tears at some of the folds, a little wear at
th edges, a few minor stains, but overall in very good condition.
Virtually the whole newspaper, excepting ten columns of
advertisements, is taken up with news of the war and related articles,
including "Emancipation Proclamation by the President. Freedom of the
Slaves in Rebellious States." The proclamation was issued in
Washington three days earlier, September 22nd, but didn't take effect
until January 1, 1863. The editorial in the left-most column makes
reference to the policy of using abolition as tool for hastening the
end of the war.

$200 plus shipping. Reciprocal consideration offered to dealers.

Cheers,
Greg Powers
