York:  Harper  Brothers  (1949). First  Edition.  An  autobiographical
account of military aviation in the twentieth century by "Hap" Arnold,
a  student of Orville Wright's and the U.S. Army Air Corps first five-
star  general.  This  copy INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author  on  the
front  blank  to Medal of Honor-winning World War I aviator  and  race
car  driver Eddie Rickenbacker: "To/'Eddie' Rickenbacker/One of my old
aviation/friends  and  one of the men/who made commercial  aviation/in
the  U.S.  practicable./Thankx  for  your  help/in  World  War  II./HH
Arnold/El  Rancho Feliz/Calif- 20 Aug '49-." A fine presentation  copy
of  an important book by the man who built the most powerful air force
the  world had ever known INSCRIBED to America's leading ace in  World
War     I.    Rickenbacker     also     performed   many   significant
intelligence-gathering  missions  during  World  War  II  as  well  as
advising  at  the  highest  level on  logistical  and  policy  issues.
Rickenbacker  is mentioned three times in Arnold's book and Hap Arnold
is  cited  numerous times in Rickenbacker's autobiography. Very  Good,
