Manning, W. E. REMINISCENCES OF SOUTH-EAST AFRICA. Np: Nd (circa
1915). Square octavo. Original gray printed stiff wrappers. 30pp. Two
black and white photographs. Very good. Wear at spine from extraction
from a bound volume of pamphlets. Manning was the British Vice-Consul
for Mozambique and the Portugese possessions on the East coast of
Africa. An interesting narrative discussing Slavers and slave
caravans, the Arabs, the wildlife, native tribes, Vice-Consul Elton
and the Portugese. These events occurred in the 1870’s but this
piece was printed some 30 years later. It was among a bound volume of
pamphlets, all African related and all dating from 1910-1915. An
apparently unrecorded piece, OCLC, Harvard, the Library of Congress
and Copac do not list any copies. $150.00
