Ramsden, Charles.  "BOOK BINDERS OF THE UNITED KINDGDOM (OUTSIDE LONDON)
1780-1840"  London; B.T. Batsford, 1987.  2nd edition, 2nd printing. 
First published in 1954. Arranged in three parts to cover England and
Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, each section includes an alphabetical
listing of binders working in the region, and information on business
relations, apprenticeships, influences and other matters of interest. 
Hardcover. 7.5"x10", 250 pages, b/w illustrations, dj; a fine copy.


Lehmann-Haupt, Hellmut [ed.].  "PROSPECTUS FOR 'BOOKBINDING IN AMERICA' " 
Portland; Southworth-Anthoensen Press: 1941.  The Prospectus folder for
the classic book “Bookbinding in America, edited by Hellmut Lehmann-Haupt
and featuring essays by Hannah Dustine French, Joseph W. Rogers and
Lehmann-Haupt. This prospectus folder includes a description of the book,
list of the table of contents, and an advertisement for Wroth’s ‘The
Colonial Printer’.  Folder. 6.25”x9.25”, 7 pages, 1 b/w plate laid in
loosely. Light soil, light water stain, very light staple marks.


Lada-Mocarski, Polly, et al.  "LA RELIURE ORIGINALE FRANCAISE -
BOOKBINDINGS BY CONTEMPORARY FRENCH BINDERS"  New York; Museum of
Contemporary Crafts: 1964.  An intriguing exhibition of 60s French binding
art.  Also, design-wise, a rather cool catalog in itself (tall and
slender).  Organized with the help of the Societe de la Reliure Originale.
 Card covers.  5"x14", 50 pages, b/w illustrations, light wear.


Robinson, Ivor, et al.  "DESIGNER BOOKBINDERS 2"  Hertford; Designer
Bookbinders: 1972.  "Designer Bookbinders is the principal bookbinding
society in Great Britain... [this book is] intended to act as a directory
of the Society".  22 artisan bookbinders are listed, with illustrations of
their work and artist statements.  Softcover.  9"x6", 50 pages, b/w
illustrations; light soil.


"THE BOOKBINDER IN EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY WILLIAMSBURG"  Colonial
Williamsburg: 1978.  ”An account of his life & times & of his craft”. 
Illustrated with some nice period copper engravings.  From the
Williamsburg Craft series.  Softcover.  6”x9”, 32 pages, b/w

All payments must be in U.S. funds and negotiable through a U.S. bank; We
accept checks, money orders, American Express, Visa and Mastercard. Books
may be reserved pending payment; Institutions may be billed; Standard
courtesies to institutions and the trade; Postage charges are $5.00 for
the first book, and $2.00 for each additional book. Shipments outside the
U.S. will be billed at cost. We accept returns if we are notified within
ten days of your receipt of the books-please ask for full instructions and
terms. Massachusetts residents must add 5% state sales tax.
