This work, a satire on the religion and politics of Cromwell’s Commonwealth, 
first appeared in 1651. This is the first printing of the abridged edition. 
Sancroft (1617-1693) was Archbishop of Canterbury but was removed for opposing 
the coronation of William III. Wing S560.
