Although many of the better Coppard items have sold, we still have a 
number of mostly Signed Coppard items still remaining from our online 
March catalogue, including these:

1.  COPPARD,  A.  E. CLORINDA WALKS IN HEAVEN.  TALES.  Waltham  Saint
Lawrence:  The  Golden  Cockerel Press 1922. First  Edition.  Original
cloth-backed  yellow  boards. Coppard's second book of fiction and  an
early  title  from  this distinguished press. Of the edition  of  1200
copies,  430  were  acquired  by Jonathan Cape  and  re-issued  with a
cancel  title  page.  There  was also a very  limited  edition  of  20
autographed  copies  (see our other offering). Near Fine in a  lightly
soiled, Very Good dustwrapper.                                 $100.00

2.  COPPARD, A. E. DUNKY FITLOW. TALES. London: Jonathan Cape  (1933).
First  Edition.  Bound in publisher's full vellum  with  gilt-lettered
green  morocco spine label. Copy #77 of 300 numbered copies SIGNED  by
the  author. Covers slightly bowed. Near Fine, lacking a  dustwrapper.

First  Edition. Copy #170 of 350 numbered copies SIGNED by the  author
on  the  half-title  page.  Bookplate of Earl E.  Fisk  on  the  front
pastedown. Fine with most of original glassine.                 $75.00

5.  COPPARD,  A.  E. HIPS & HAWS. POEMS. Waltham Saint  Lawrence:  The
Golden  Cockerel  Press 1922. First Edition. Coppard's first  book  of
poetry  and the seventh book of this distinguished press. Copy #58  of
500  numbered  copies.  Attractive bookplate of Paul  Heymann  on  the
front  free  endpaper and a smaller bookplate of Wilber Parsons  Sachs
on  the  front  pastedown. Near Fine in a lightly  soiled,  Near  Fine

6.  COPPARD,  A.  E. NIXEY'S HARLEQUIN. TALES. London:  Jonathan  Cape
(1931).   First  Edition.  Bound  in   publisher's  full  vellum  with
gilt-lettered  green  morocco  spine label. Copy #52 of  304  numbered
copies  SIGNED  by the author. Fraying to top edge of rear  board  and
spine head. Very Good or better, lacking a dustwrapper.         $75.00

7.  COPPARD,  A.  E. NIXEY'S HARLEQUIN. TALES. London:  Jonathan  Cape
(1931).  First  Edition.  INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the  author  on  the
front  endpaper  for William Macey Stone, long-time secretary  of  the
Carteret  Book Club. Below his inscription, Coppard has added a  quote
identified  by him only as "(T.H.)": "the whole romance to see here/Is
the  dream I bring with me." The beautiful muti-colored covers of this
book  are  bright  and fresh. The paper spine label is now  loose  and
laid  into  the book but in perfect condition. The  white  dustwrapper
has  expected soiling with a one-inch closed tear internally  repaired
with tape. Near Fine in a Good or better dustwrapper.          $125.00

8.  COPPARD,  A. E. RUMMY THAT NOBLE GAME EXPOUNDED IN PROSE,  POETRY,
DIAGRAM  AND ENGRAVING.... Waltham Saint Lawrence: The Golden Cockerel
Press  [1932]. First Edition. ...WITH AN ACCOUNT OF CERTAIN DIVERSIONS
INTO  THE MOUNTAIN FASTNESSES OF CORK AND KERRY. Illustrated by Robert
Gibbings.  Of  the edition of 1250 copies, this is one of  1000  trade
copies  printed on machine-made paper. Fine in a lightly soiled,  Near
Fine dustwrapper.                                              $100.00

9.  COPPARD,  A.  E.  SILVER CIRCUS. TALES.  (London):  Jonathan  Cape
(1928).   First  Edition.  Bound  in   publisher's  full  vellum  with
gilt-lettered  green  morocco  spine  label.  Copy  #16  of  only  125
numbered  copies  SIGNED  by  the author. Fraying to  spine  heel  and
bottom    edges.   Covers  slightly   bowed.  Very   Good,   lacking a
dustwrapper.                                                   $100.00

10.  COPPARD, A. E. THE BLACK DOG AND OTHER STORIES. London:  Jonathan
Cape  (1923).  Second Impression of the First Edition.  INSCRIBED  and
SIGNED   by  the  author  on  the   front  endpaper:  "To  dear  Louis
Golding/With  love  from/A.E. Coppard." Golding was a  British  writer
who  often  used  Jewish themes in his novels. He also worked  on  the
screenplays  of  several  movies including the Paul Robeson  film  THE
PROUD  VALLEY (1940). Front hinge cracked but tight; some staining and
wear to covers. Good or better, lacking a dustwrapper.         $150.00

11.  COPPARD,  A. E. THE FIELD OF MUSTARD. TALES.  (London):  Jonathan
Cape  (1926).  First  Edition. Bound in publisher's full  vellum  with
gilt-lettered  green morocco spine label. Copy #81 of only 85 numbered
copies  SIGNED by the author. Fraying to top edge of boards and  spine
head; endpapers foxed. Very Good, lacking a dustwrapper.        $75.00

12.  COPPARD,  A. E. THE FIELD OF MUSTARD. TALES.  (London):  Jonathan
Cape  (1926).  First  Edition. Bound in publisher's full  vellum  with
gilt-lettered  green morocco spine label. Copy #9 of only 85  numbered
copies  SIGNED by the author. From the library of Geoffrey Ecroyd with
his  armorial bookplate on the front pastedown. Fine in price-clipped,
close to Fine dustwrapper.                                     $250.00

13.  COPPARD,  A. E. THE MAN FROM KILSHEELAN. London: William  Jackson
(Books)  Ltd 1930. First Edition. Number 3 of the Furnival Books. With
a  frontispiece woodcut by Robert Gibbings and a foreword by  Coppard.
Copy  #113 of 550 SIGNED by the author. In the original clear glassine
dustwrapper  with paper inside flaps. Tears to the glassine with  some
pieces  missing  at  the rear. Fine in a Good example  of  the  scarce
dustwrapper.                                                   $150.00

14.  [ROOSEVELT,  Franklin  D.].  THE   DEMOCRATIC  BOOK  1936.  First
Edition.  Folio  (11" x 14") in the original full brown  leather  with
gilt  lettering  on the front cover and the original  pictorial  wraps
bound  in; 384 pages. SIGNED by the President beneath a color image of
the  White  House  on  the  limitation  leaf,  #1069  of  an  unstated
limitation  of 2500 copies, which is often found removed from the book
as  it  makes  a  beautiful display piece. Some  light  and  scattered
foxing.  The  page with FDR's signature is Fine. The binding has  some
edgewear  and  light  wear to the corners with rubbing  to  the  front
cover.  The  spine tips are worn with some erosion to the  bottom  and
areas  of  splitting to the spine edge at the front, though the  cover
is still tight. Still Very Good and increasingly uncommon.    $3500.00
