Offering:

Laudes Beatae Mariae Virginis. Hammersmith: Kelmscott  Press, 1896.

Specimen Leaf (trial proof). Quarto [290 x 210 
mm], printed in three colours in Troy type on 
Perch paper. 30 lines (6 poems of 5 lines each, 
with half-line spaces between poems).  Text of 
the Psalms in red, alternate initials in blue, 
followed by a quatrain in black which applies the 
Psalm to the Virgin. Mild browning, a fine example.

¶ This was the first Kelmscott Book to be issued 
in three colours. See Peterson A42. 250 copies of 
the published book were issued on paper and 10 on 
vellum. Trial proofs are rare.
