Bunyan, John. THE PILGRIM'S PROGRESS From This World to That Which Is to
Come. Complete in Three Parts... Embellished with Cuts... Worcester, MA: Isaiah
Thomas. 1791. 8vo. 3 vols. in 1, each with its own title page (titles of parts 2
& 3 dated 1790). 404pp. Woodcut frontispieces to each volume, plus text
illustrated with 12 large woodcuts (4" x 2-3/4"). Cont. calf, nicely rebacked. Text
with an old water stain along the bottom of the leaves. One leaf with some
tears (Vol. 3, pp. 375-376) has been "silked' (repaired) with some very slight
loss. $1,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
This is Evans 23232. All of the early American editions are rare, as this
text was extremely popular. In fact, many surviving copies of early American
editions (1740 and 1744, 1789 and 1791) are defective. This edition not in Welch,
Rosenbach or Hamilton.
