ACTS  PASSED  AT  THE  THIRD CONGRESS  OF  THE  UNITED  STATES  OF
AMERICA....  Philadelphia: Francis Childs 1795. First Edition.  Octavo
in  original sheep with a gilt-lettered red morocco spine label;  260,
iv,  (24) pages. Evans 29676. The first of the 121 acts, all of  which
are  signed in type by President George Washington, alters the flag to
fifteen  stripes  and  fifteen  stars.   Another  act  authorizes  the
establishment  of  a militia in western Pennsylvania to  suppress  the
Whiskey  Insurrection. A few acts concern erection of lighthouses.  In
addition  three treaties with Indians are printed with many signatures
in  type of various chiefs and warriors. Early ownership signature  of
Jacob  Landis,  with a later note indicating he was a justice  of  the
peace,  and  two  1894  signatures  on  the  front  endpaper.  Uniform
browning  to  pages with some staining and fraying to upper corner  of
title  page  and  first few pages. Minor chipping to  head  of  spine.
