Greetings Booklovers,
We are pleased to offer:

(No. 9126) Grant, Gordon (Foreword by C. Fox Smith). SAIL HO!: WIND JAMMER
SKETCHES ALOW AND ALOFT.
New York: William Farquhar Payson, [1931]. First printing, Original cloth,
Quarto, xii, 127 pages, sketches. Very good in a good dust jacket, Jacket in
Mylar protector.
A wonderful collection of captioned sketches showing the typical crew
at their work and leisure activities aboard the old sailing ships. Many of
these sketches were made by Grant aboard the Star of Alaska on a 1925
cruise. He was also able to draw on his experiences on an earlier voyage
around the Horn aboard the City of Madras. Bound in tan decorated cloth over
boards with illustrated endpapers. Frontispiece sketch with tissue guard and
descriptive letterpress. There is some occasional light foxing, some mild
dustiness to top edge of textblock, and a prior owner inscription
preliminary blank leaf. Jacket shows some overall light soil and foxing,
edge chips and closed tears, and some browning along spine.
