We offer for Sale:

Osaka Tekkojo. OSAKA TEKKOJO. Osaka Tekkojo: n.p., (ca 1903). lv,
[1], Plates [60 lvs]. Illus. with 60 b/w photos. Obl. 4to. (23 x 29
cm.). Decorated cloth, red string ties (hardback).

History of the Osaka Iron Works. One page introduction in Japanese.
Plates with captions in English and Japanese. 13 plates are of the
Osaka Iron Works, 42 of ships built by the Iron Works, and 6 of other
products and buildings. The Osaka Iron Works, later renamed as
Hitachi Zosen, was formed by E.H. Hunter in 1881 and expanded in 1900
by the addition of the Sakurajima Works along the Ajikawa river in
Osaka, for the construction for large ocean going vessels as well as
manufacturing machinery and steel structures. Scarce. The only other
copy we have found is at UC Berkeley (OCLC: 30014108), though it
contains only 50 plates. A very good copy, boards mildly soiled and
rubbed, faint browning to edges of plates not affecting images.
