Kozan Miyagawa (1842-1916) "was one of the figures most

in Yokohama, in 1871 (Meiji 4), that Miyagawa gave birth to the style
of Makuzu ware, which became widely celebrated after winning various
awards both in Japan and at overseas exhibitions, including World
Expositions. Over the years, Makuzu ware was exported all over the
world. After Miyagawa's death, the 'school' of Makuzu ware continued
on until the Showa 30s (1955-1964), under the successive leadership
of Kozan the Second through to Kozan the Fourth," (Miyagawa Kozan and
the World of Makuzu Ware, Yokohama Museum of Art). [32397] $250.00
