Delamotte, Philip H.  "The Art of Sketching from Nature"   London; George
Bell and Sons: 1888. 2nd edition. A beautifully illustrated Victorian
guide to nature sketching and watercoloring for the amateur artist.
Delamotte includes a chapter on materials and tools, and then addresses
his topic by subject, starting with the sky and clouds and moving on
through trees, plants and water, and also composition and color.
Illustrated with 20 beautiful color pates of paintings, mostly by
Delamotte, but also including the work of Varley, Prout and E.W. Cooke.
Hardcover. 10"x12.5", vi + 69 pages, plus 20 mounted color plates and 24
line illustrations in the text; publisher's grey cloth with gilt title;
covers scuffed, somewhat soiled, and spine a bit threadbare; contents with

courtesies to institutions and the trade; Postage charges are $5.00 for
