KENTUCKY IN AMERICAN LETTERS 1784-1912, Volume 1 and Volume 2
Berea, KY, ,Kentucke Imprints, 1974{1913]
Lists Kentucky authors with brief biographical information on each.
Bios emphasizes their contributions to Kentucky's literature and most
bios contain brief, but specific information on relevant
bibliographies and biographies of the author. Each entry includes
brief excerpts of the author's work. Covers the work of approximately
202 authors active between 1784 and 1912. Includes John Filson, John
J. Audubon, Zachary Taylor, Jefferson Davis, and most of the great
contributors to the literature of Kentucky, from frontier times to statehood.
The author was one of the great bookmen of Kentucky and assembled
these books from that perspective as much as a historical one. The
Introduction by James Lane Allen does much to explain the author's
contributions to bibliography and the exposition of Kentucky's authors.
