Beautifully illustrated with 6 color plates, 51 black and white plates,
and 10 text illustrations, “English Ivories” is a detailed study of
English ivory work from Roman times through the Renaissance. The examples
are drawn from a number of English and European collections, mostly
museums, but with some private collections also represented.

The text includes a 61 page historical background on English ivory work
with sections dedicated to:

- The Pre-Conquest and Romanesque Period

- The Gothic Period

- The Renaissance and Later Periods

Also included are a short discussion of ascriptions, a detailed catalog of
the illustrated specimens, a bibliography, and an index of collections, as
well as a general index.

Hardcover. 9"x11.5", 123 pages with 10 text figures, plus 6 color and 51
b/w plates, plus the supplementary b/w plate. Original publishers brown
cloth covers with gilt title. The spine has light sunning, the lower tips
are bumped and the cover has some light soil and a couple of spots (see
below), else a near fine copy. $150.00
