diagrams in the text. Cont. vellum, spine hand lettered. Vellum a bit soiled, 
otherwise a lovely clean copy. Small bookplate of the 19th century American 
collector George May Elwood.     $3,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
Second edition (the first is 1658, printed in Munich) of this important text 
on Chinese history by the Italian Jesuit Missionary Martini (1614-1661). In 
1638 he left for China and became the head of Hang-Tschou mission. He died in
