Vol. 2. Illustrated with 78 full-page woodcuts and a map. Frontispiece of Vol.
2 is a portrait of the author. Orig. pictorial textured cloth, elaborately
stamped in blind & gilt. Some minor fraying at hinges. The 3 vols. are housed in
a custom made buckram portfolio and slipcase. Occasional light foxing of
outer leaves. Old lending library bookplate on front pastedowns. $600.00

The woodcuts of the "London Street-Folk" are remarkable for their accurate
portrayals, many having been based on daguerreotypes selected by Mayhew
(1812-1887), a founder and one-time editor of Punch. There is a fourth volume called
the "extra volume" which completes the set, but is frequently not present.
