Wheeler, Post; Bilibin, Ivan IAkovlevich, illus. RUSSIAN  WONDER 
TALES; WITH A FOREWORD ON THE   RUSSIAN SKAZKI. New York: Century 
Co., 1912. xix, 323 pp. Illus. with 12 color plates (incl. frontis). 
8vo. (22   cm). Decorated cloth.  First edition thus. Typed book 
description on the stationary of Justin Schiller', noted bookseller 
of  Children's books, taped to free front endpaper. A somewhat 
elusive title, later revised. Post Wheeler (1869-1956) was Secretary 
of the American Embassy at St. Petersburg. Ivan Bilibin  (1876-1942), 
strongly influenced by Russian folklore, first published these 
illustrations in 1899. Later he would design for the Ballets Russes. 
A very good copy, binding soiled, spine darkened  with a few spots 
and ends worn, endpapers mildly foxed, rear pastedown scuffed, inked 
numeral to half-title, plates bright, leaves clean.  [31473]

American Express, Mastercard, and Visa. Foreign orders should be in 
U.S. funds on a U.S. bank. New York residents please add appropriate 
sales tax or forward a tax id number. Libraries and Institutions can 
be billed. Trade allowance. Postage for Domestic orders is $4.00 for 
the first book and $1.50 for each additional volume. Books are 
normally shipped Media Mail. For international orders, postage is 
calculated individually. All books may be returned in original 
condition for any reason within two weeks with prior notification.
