The greatly expanded second edition. The first edition of 1709 has 194pp.
and 8 plates. The second edition has one additional plate and the text, with
the supplementary experiments added to this edition, now has 336pp. An
important text in the physical sciences, relating to light and electricity &
sound. Hauksbee was influenced by Newton and in turn "influenced Newton's
revisions and additions in the new editions of his PRINCIPIA and OPTICKS" (NORMAN
# 1020).
