Adscripta. Cum Elegantissimis in Utroque Libello Figuris... Editio Novissim a 
Plurimis Mendis Repurgata. Amsterdam: Apud Aegidium Janssonium Valckenier. 
1660. Sm. 8vo. 2 parts in 1. 80;(81)-158,(2)pp. The first part, the Fables, is 
double text in Greek and Latin. The second part, a commentary on the fables 
is also printed in Greek & latin. Illustrated with 47 text woodcuts (2" x 
2-1/2"). Later calf, gilt, minor rubbing. 13 of the first 14 woodcuts have 
been partially colored in light brown. Title page a bit soiled.     $600.00

A rare surviving Dutch bilingual school book edition of Aesop with 
additional text by Avianus, Philostratas and Homer. The first edition was 1626. This 
version remained in print until the 18th century, and all the editions are 
now rare.
