In honour of the the birthday Sunday of Jerome K. Jerome, author of
/Three Men in a Boat (To say nothing of the Dog)/ we are pleased to
offer what we believe to be a previously unknown letter, signed by the
author.

It is written on one side of one page, the page measuring approx. 11 x
17.5 cms, with "12 More's Garden, Cheyne Walk, S.W." printed in the top
right corner. It is addressed to "My Dear Sir" and contains ten brief
lines in Jerome's rather difficult handwriting in which he expresses a
preference "for something from 'Second Thts' or from 'Three Men on a
Bummel'" (/Three Men on the Bummel/ was the sequel to /Three Men in a
Boat/. It was published in America as /Three Men on a Bicycle/).

The letter is in very good condition, with only a touch of discoloration
to the very bottom edge. The writing is strong and clear. It was kept
between the covers of a reprint copy of /Three Men on the Bummel /for
many years.

We have observed that ephemera and hand-written notes from Jerome K.
Jerome are currently being offered for between $800 and $4,000 by
purveyors of literary autographs.

Price: $750

Terms of sale - As this is a special price to the list, the price is net
