Pindar. [Title in Greek] OLYMPIA, PYTHIA, NEMEA, ISTHMIA... (Rome:
Zacharias Callierges for Cornelio Benigno. August 13, 1515). 4to. ff.239 (of 240),
lacking one of the two internal blanks. Title page with 2 woodcut devices and
final leaf (verso) with woodcut device. Two leaves (the first text leaf of
Olympia, and of Pythia) printed in red & black. Old calf, neatly rebacked,
spine with blind tooled ornaments and red morocco label. Title page and text
with some old faded soiling. Repairs to the final gathering: leaves P1, P3
and P4 have been re-margined at the bottom of the leaf, with the final 3 or 4
lines of type filled in with very neat old manuscript type facsimile. Three
other leaves in the final gathering have small repairs to the blank bottom
inner margin. Housed in a brown cloth folding case with morocco spine label.

This is the first Greek book printed at Rome and is the first printing of
the extensive Greek Scholia to Pindar. It is the second edition in the
original Greek of the text proper, but "based on a manuscript more faithful to the
original." (Staikos, p. 413) than the Aldine 1513. Adams P1220 (noting 3
