original cloth, 239 pages. Condition: good.
    This is Volume IX of the Department of the Interior's overall series 
arising from the U. S. Geographical and Geological Survey of the Rocky 
Mountain Region. Part one is a detailed grammar of the Dakota language, 
including its phonology, morphology, and syntax. Part two contains several 
texts in Dakota, with English subtext. Part three is a detailed ethnography 
of the Dakota people in North America. Bound in original maroon cloth over 
boards with spine titled in gilt. Binding exterior shows a clear staining of 
some kind to upper board, a few whitish scuffs to lower board, and some 
moderate rubs to extremities. Prior owner name dated 1895 on front free 
endpaper. There is a 1" piece torn from fore edge of front free endpaper 
with some associated creases. Rear free endpaper has a cleanly closed 1.5" 
tear to fore edge. Hinges not cracked. $55 postpaid Media Mail.
