New York: Published by the Author, 1854, Seventh Edition.
    Practical advice and instruction on many aspects of seamanship, 
including rigging, knotting, blocks, scudding, getting under-weigh, and much 
more. Numerous helpful illustrations. Old bookseller's tag at lower inner 
margin of front pastedown: "Sold at Raynor's Bookstore, 76 Bowery, NY". Also 
bears a contemporary prior owner inscription as follows: "Saml. Bowne / 
[flourish] / Nov. 27th. 1857 / Self-Navigator". Bound in original cloth over 
boards with spine stamped in gilt. Moderately foxed throughout, some mild 
rubs and shallow chips to binding extremities, otherwise sound. Hinges not 
cracked but upper joint has a split about an inch in length.
