      The 40th Division--the Sunburst Division--was initially comprised of 
men from the California, Utah, and Nevada National Guards. The division 
fought gallantly in the Pacific Theatre and had been chosen to spearhead the 
invasion of the Japanese home islands had the war continued. Here is the 
story of the division's training and actions at San Luis Obispo, Southern 
California, Fort Lewis, the Hawaiian Islands, Guadalcanal, New Britain, the 
Philippines, etc. Well illustrated with photographs. Bound in dark blue 
cloth over boards with title and divisional insignia embossed on upper
