Dowling, John. NIGHTS OF WEEPING AND MORNINGS OF JOY. New York: U.D. 
Ward, 1868. 144 pp. + Adv [2]. 16mo. Green cloth with beveled edges, 
gilt titles. Third edition, first printing. Very scarce in any 
edition. Starr lists only one copy. OCLC lists none of this edition, 
and three of the second. The American Spectator wrote: "It is just 
the work for general circulation at the present time when the church 
is awakening to duty and sinners are enquiring what they must do to 
be saved." John Dowling (1807-1878) was a fierce opponent of the 
Catholic Church and held pastorates in Catskill, New York, 
Philadelphia, Providence, and Newport. His tHistory of Romanism went 
through many editions. Endpapers a bit soiled else a near fine tight, 
bright copy with light rubbing to the boards. Starr D2501 [25600]

U.S. funds on a U.S. bank. New York residents please add appropriate 
sales tax or forward a tax id number. Libraries and Institutions can 
be billed. Trade allowance. Postage for Domestic orders is $4.00 for 
the first book and $1.50 for each additional volume. Books are 
normally shipped Media Mail. For international orders, postage is 
calculated individually. All books may be returned in original 
condition for any reason within two weeks with prior notification.
